For Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee 'De toekomst ligt in zee' has been mixed in stereo and cut into three episodes which were broadcasted early 2017.
In the fall of 2016 De toekomst ligt in zee premiered at Galerie van Gelder in Amsterdam as a three channel sound installation. Artist and writer Stijn Verhoeff was invited by curator Vincent van Velsen to make an exhibition. Stijn Verhoeff was working on a book and asked sound artists Sjoerd Leijten and Malu Peeters to join in to develop a spatial installation. Together they made an hour long sound work, consisting of pieces of text intertwined with sound. The result is a dreamy and poetic, raw and harsh trip through an imaginary landscape. Drones, strange choirs and clouds of noises create a destabilizing trance, wild glitchy beats trigger a primitive state of alert, while the voices speak, hum, sing and form rhythmic patterns. The stories become paintings in time. Like in a film the listener travels to and through places he or she has not yet been before.
