THE PEASALL SISTERS FEATURED IN NEW COEN BROTHERS MOVIE TRAILER
(Nashville, TN) A teaser trailer for the new Coen Brothers film, “True Grit,” featuring Mosie Lister’s gospel classic “Where No One Stands Alone,” performed by Nashville’s the Peasall Sisters was released this week. The track is taken from the Peasall Sisters’ debut album Home To You, released in 2005 by Dualtone Music.
Over the past decade, the Peasall Sisters— Sarah, 23; Hannah, 20 and Leah, 17; have earned Grammy and CMA Awards for their contributions to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? movie and soundtrack, and have performed at such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall with the acclaimed Down From the Mountain tour.
This marks the second time Joel and Ethan Coen have chosen the music of The Peasall Sisters to appear in their films. In 2000, after auditioning for parts in the Coen Brothers classic, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the filmmakers decided the girls didn’t look “pitiful enough” to play play Depression-era characters onscreen so the Peasall Sisters provided the singing voices of George Clooney's daughters, the Wharvey girls on the movie soundtrack.
“True Grit” is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas Day, and the film stars Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges.
