Author's description

1810 Sound is one of the oldest netlabels, founded in 1997 in New York City. It was intended as a successor to the East Village indie label Quixotic Records which had folded that year. The internet was still in its infancy but it was clear that digital distribution was going to be the future (also way cheaper). Conveniently, it is also the name given to the mobile sound recording unit used by the bands and individual artists that released music for the label. Over the years it’s included every type of technology we could get our hands on (the cheaper the better). The result of the last 24 years is a seemingly endless bounty of experimental music and sound recordings from nearly a dozen artists. We carefully select a precious few from the vault for public presentation, given as freely as possible depending upon the ever-changing nature of technology and the internet. Why do we do this? A very good question. Is any of this accurate or true? Another reasonable question. New and archival tracks are added every now and then, so stay tuned. Any questions?
